Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

A newcomer to Battlefield, and opened up by the folks behind Southside Roasters, serving small batch coffee and a delightful food offering. It’s an intimate but not a crammed space, a stylish and bright room with both booth and table seating. There’s fresh baking every day, and they make an effort with seasonal bakes too – creme egg brownies for the Easter celebrations. From the main food menu, the buttermilk waffles with Thai spiced pork are a highlight, their sweetness playing off against the spice of red chilli and sriracha. Those of a vegetarian persuasion (or just with a sweet tooth) can sample them with banana, berries and honeycomb butter. Signature muffins with smoked salmon and sourdough tartine with wild mushrooms are other highlights from the new kid on the block, which has wasted no time establishing itself as a local favourite.
