No doubt Alexanders’ fish counter, introduced on a trial basis at first in Spring 2018, will showcase the same quality and pride in presentation already on show in the meat cabinet. Traditional offerings come highly recommended and the steak pies are generously filled. However, James Alexander is not afraid to try new things and his specials are worth looking out for; breast of lamb stuffed with sausage and black pudding sounds good. If requested, Tomahawk steaks and ox cheeks come with helpful advice on how to best to cook them, and their own oven-ready meat dishes – such as flavoured pork ribs and chicken Balmoral – might make ready meals a thing of the past for his loyal customers.
