Specialising in the North American filled sub roll - aka the Hoagie, with burgers, pizzas, ribs and more from the USA.

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
The latest BBQ joint to add its sizzle to the Southside, Hoagies serves up American fast food classics that are full of flavour and low in grease. The set up is ideal for casual dining, furnished with comfortable booths and a few craft beer barrels, with a low-key soundtrack of ambience-enhancing classic rock. The titular hoagie is a US-style, soft submarine sandwich – not the Glasgow version of chips, cheese and doner meat – but there’s a similar guilty pleasure when a sub overflows with soft, sticky BBQ pulled beef and chicken, jalapeños, cheese, ‘slaw and hot sauce, as does the Big Durty. They've had fun with a menu on which Buckfast sits alongside prosecco, and pop-cultural references abound, so Philly beef fills the Balboa, and smoky pulled chicken could only be styled as the Bandit. Burgers are likewise gourmet, juicy and served in fresh brioche rolls, while the menu fills out with pizza, chicken and the essential accompaniments to a traditional US BBQ feast – hush puppies, fried pickles and ‘slaw. If this isn’t your neighbourhood, consider moving in.
