Cocktail specialist just off Byres Road, with brunches, small plates, burgers and pizzas on the menu

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
Recently celebrating its first birthday, Vinicombe Street’s the Parlour serves up small plates, pizzas, burgers and cocktails, impressing in each category. From the small plates, chicken wings come served with the dip of your choice and a small brush, a quirk – but a functional one, and the risotto balls with garlic aioli are deceptively lively, possessing a spicy kick. Burgers are sizeable, and the okra falafel version is a standout – a vegetarian option that feels well thought out, not throwaway. Cocktails are split into categories – choose from the candy shop (sweet), wee man syndrome (short and punchy), ginny mcgin (the gin-based ones), and the caffeinated selection. The Double Bourbon is a pleasing concoction, bringing together espresso, chocolate liqueur and whiskey – and overall the mixed drinks are the highlight at the Parlour, presented with admirable attention to detail.
