Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

Whether you bag a window seat overlooking the river or a table outside, Finn and Bear seems to get the most sunshine in Leith. Brunch is on until the afternoon, with a fine array of waffles, cooked breakfasts and inventive eggs Benedicts. Later in the day a whisky smoked salmon is delicately flavoured and a tasty potted mackerel has a pleasing buttery lid with bagel chips for scooping. Main dishes let the side down a little; mac and cheese sounds wonderful but lacks some of the promised seafood so there's a lack of flavour. A green bear burger has a falafel-like texture, livened up with contrasting flavours of avocado and pickled onions. At the bar there’s a short but varied wine menu with a good choice of beer and cocktails. For brunch or drinks with friends, Finn and Bear is a sunny choice.
