The Bakery by Zique
A bakery and deli from the folks behind Cafezique, with wide-ranging bakes and cakes and plenty of savoury options.
Tucked away from the bustle of the West End, the Bakery by Zique offers a range of tasty sandwiches, pastries, cakes, soups and coffees in a freshly designed café that is perhaps more suited to takeaways than a casual weekday lunch. The interesting fillings – including homemade sauerkraut – complement the artisan bread, and soups are rich, tasty and filling. But it is the cake selection that is the highlight – beautifully presented on the open counter, and ranging from familiar favourites to more ambitious combinations of flavours. They are a little more expensive than most, but appropriately luxurious and delicious. With quality coffee and good service, the Bakery is well positioned for both a business lunch or a more languid afternoon tea. Also offering artisan loafs – which nearly sell out by midday – the Bakery is a modern, dynamic take on the local café, which stands apart from similar West End glamorous bakeries through its unpretentious commitment to quality.
