Roots Deli & Salad Bar
Roots dishes up mainly vegetarian and vegan breakfasts and lunches, with sustainability, community and well-being in mind.
Roots Deli & Salad Bar is a new addition to the West End’s charming William Street. Passionate about sustainability, owners Catriona and Mark Spence-Ishaq endeavour to reduce, recycle, upcycle and compost in their drive towards zero waste. They grow as much of their own produce as possible, alongside using local growers like East Coast Organics and Dig In, to create healthy and balanced dishes, promoting good nutrition and wellbeing along the way. Food is mainly vegetarian and vegan, with some responsibly sourced cured meat and fish options too. Breakfast features granola, porridge, smoothies and toast, while the daily changing lunch menu offers filled rolls, soup, stew, pasta and fresh salads. Community involvement is also high on the agenda, through ventures such as free community projects and workshops on growing and preparing food. Little ones and pooches are most welcome, and additional services include dinner kits, veg boxes, hampers and outside catering.
