Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2018 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £7.95 (+p&p).

Avo Avo stakes its unique identity on the use of the avocado as a staple ingredient: replacing bread in burgers, appearing in soup, cheesecake and pancake toppings and even in the mac and cheese. The bright design features an informative display of the magic of Mexico's 'green gold'. The emphasis is on healthy, protein rich dishes, with few fried items – although the avo avo fries are a treat – and the fresh ingredients balancing out the distinctive texture of the avocado. The relaxing atmosphere – the lively musical choices are not too intrusive, but add to the cafe's distinctive style – is established by the subtle, airy design and while the courses ultimately lack some variety, a tasty house coffee and intriguing desserts make this as good a place for a quick stop as a larger meal, while individually the dishes are well presented and integrate their diverse flavours and showcase the versatility of the star ingredient.
