Situated in the heart of Strathbungo this environmentally aware modestly priced café with a recycled wood interior spices up the local coffee shop scene in a unique way.
This recent addition to Strathbungo’s coffee shop scene has several unique features not least the fresh orange juicing machine which for a very reasonable price delivers a large glass containing the juice of six oranges. Indeed value for money characterises the entire menu with well priced takeaway coffees in environmentally friendly cups. Coffee is from Glasgow roasters Dear Green and many of the quirkily named specials have an unusual Asian twist reflecting the home-style cooking of the owner’s mother and wife. ‘Queen’s Drive’ a brunch dish of scrambled free-range eggs mixed with mashed sweet potatoes enhanced by a secret Punjabi spice mix and served with a chilli jam drizzled side salad on toasted sourdough is an experiment in fusion cooking. Cakes and bakes are mainly from outside suppliers, though not to be missed is the homemade spiced banana bread served warm with a knob of butter.
