Edinburgh's first arcade café has a cool range of vintage machines and games, with coffee from Artisan Roast, cakes, pastries and sandwiches plus imported Japanese snacks and softs.

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
Tucked away between Bruntsfield Place and the Union Canal, Konbo Arcade offers a retro arcade experience with coffee and snacks. Inside, the focus is on the authentic Japanese arcade machines complete with a wide and rotating selection of 80s and 90s games. Things are kept simple but there’s great attention to detail like original stools to sit on and imported Japanese sodas and sweets. Food-wise it’s filling stuff; slabs of cheesy grilled sandwiches with jalapeños and bowls of instant ramen to keep you going while you try to beat that high score. But simple can also be well done, and local supplies like bread from Au Gourmand, coffee from Artisan Roast and baking from Tasty Buns up the quality on offer here. They also host popular gaming nights and offer private hire, ideal for teenage (and older!) birthday parties.
