An ideal pit stop for walkers, locals and families offering fresh, lovingly prepared food in a picturesque situation.
Situated in Colinton, a southwest Edinburgh suburb surrounded by mature and ancient woodland, The Pantry is a picturesque pit-stop for walkers and locals. Inside the historic building, the bright, spacious dining area features Scandi-style décor – neutral tones against colourful soft furnishings and cookbooks. The original Stockbridge branch ethos remains, to provide simple, fresh, lovingly prepared food. In Colinton that translates to an emphasis on an all-day brunch menu, featuring homemade waffles. Dinner though (available Wed – Sat) far exceeds usual café offerings. Seafood stew is a hearty bowl of queen scallops, meaty king prawns, mussels and tender white fish, subtly seasoned with smoked paprika. For dessert, toasted pecan and caramelised butter tart delivers a melt-in-the-mouth sweet short crust, alongside creamy tonka bean ice-cream. Parents can enjoy this deliciousness over adult conversation while the kids entertain themselves in their own dedicated play area. This place really does hit the spot.
