Paesano Pizza GWR
Second branch for the popular pizza specialists, brings their artisan Neapolitan experience to West Enders.
New kid on the block (and sister to the wildly successful city centre venue), Paesano is certainly in with the Instagram crowd, thanks to its trendy, marbled walls and Broadway-style branded lighting which screams out for selfies and envy-inducing social medial posts. But fear not, this pizza joint is definitely not style over substance, with expertise and passion for traditional Napoletana pizzas expressed at every point of the dining experience. The open kitchen, where the wood-fired pizza oven takes pride of place, means the smell of stone-baked dough wafts across the restaurant – and indeed, in a masterful marketing ploy, tantalisingly across Great Western Road. Expect a light, soft crust pizza – a hybrid yeast and sourdough – covered in exciting toppings like fennel sausage and wild broccoli, which is a splendid combination of heady, earthy flavours, or salty prosciutto and rich portobello mushrooms, snuggled beside delicate, gooey mozzarella. Sides include a peppery rocket and parmesan salad, which pairs nicely with these immensely impressive pizzas. Load up your smartphone and grab a seat.
