Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

Innis and Gunn’s Glasgow Beer Kitchen occupies three floors on vibrant Ashton Lane. Yet with clever use of the space, each has a different ambience, ensuring everything feels connected while retaining distinct character. The lively downstairs bar decorated with beer casks is great for sampling the vast array of on-tap brews. Try the eminently downable Gunpowder IPA or subtly scented Raspberry Saison if you’re feeling fruity. A New York style bistro-bar occupies the middle floor; chrome taps and retro brickwork enclose a relaxed dining area with a minimal feel but inviting atmosphere. The food is worth climbing one, or even five, floors for. Big robust flavours from lamb rump and flat iron steak are a great match for the speciality beers. Finesse comes from delicate prawn tempura and beautifully pink West Coast smoked salmon. Heading to the chic attic space for cocktails makes for a perfect aperitif or sophisticated nightcap. An ambitious project whose careful planning and thoughtful execution brings a touch of class to the lane.
