Under a Mediterranean-blue ceiling, diners can enjoy tapas-sized staples of Greek cuisine and some firm Turkish favourites.

Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2018 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £7.95 (+p&p).

Sitting atop Glasgow’s Rotunda, Mezze’s location is a double-edged sword: on concert nights, it livens up with the buzz of the Hydro-bound crowd, but on event-free evenings it is taken by a lull. Whether the place is packed or peaceful, under the Mediterranean-blue ceiling and dimmed lights diners will always be taken by an epicurean mood. Owing its name to the eponymous Eastern Mediterranean manner of serving small dishes to share, Mezze serves up staples of Greek cuisine as well as a some Turkish items, such as the pita bread and dip samplers, the famous Levantine tabbouleh salad, and the Turkish-style kofta kebab. This mix of neighbouring cuisines caters well to those enamoured with Mediterranean aromas, and the tapas-size portions allow diners to try out a range of dishes. Grilled food is the speciality here, and the tender octopus with hummus proves this is really Mezze’s forte. The non-grilled items do not fall behind – the warm and refreshing lamb dolma is one mezze you may want to keep all to yourself.
