Opened in summer 2015 in a gracefully restored bowling pavilion in Melville Gardens, Rosie Farquhar has established a solid reputation for her spectacular home baking, and her menu of classic dishes mixed in with the more unexpected. Daily specials could include fishcakes with wilted spinach and poached eggs, or Italian meatloaf with spaghetti and a fresh tomato sauce. Among the baguettes sits a hugely popular Vietnamese bánh mì, and salads might include a beautifully presented plate of whipped goats cheese and herbs with homemade soda bread. The small space fills up fast, and booking is recommended for lunch and Sunday brunch, run on the first Sunday of the month. The cafe can be booked for private functions in the evening, and Farquhar also takes orders for celebration cakes.
