Innovative and upbeat pizza place with great tunes and good beers – a good one-stop-shop for a night out.
Brash, neon and anarchic (in a corporate kinda way), Pizza Punks is still firing on all cylinders. Its USP is the pile ’em high, unlimited topping option, which enables diners to choose from a dizzying list of ingredients such as chipotle and chocolate pulled pork, capers, pumpkin and banana. It may seem overwhelming – to say nothing of just plain daft – but once you allow yourself to slide into it, it is a lot of fun. And it is tasty, too. While it may not be for purists (other pizza options in the city are available) it does encourage diners to push the envelope a little and try something new. That might be the white (garlicky crème fraiche) sauce to replace traditional tomato, some ‘nduja (very spicy meat paste), or scamorza (smoked mozzarella). The imaginative approach sort of peters out a little at dessert time, although a Nutella and banana pizza pudding is calorifically good if the 12-inch, 57-toppinged main course hasn’t done you in. Staff are great, terrific playlist creates a party atmos, and the beers and cocktails are impressive, too.
