Reasonably priced Korean takeaway, with a handful of tables giving the option to sit in.

Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2018 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £7.95 (+p&p).

Healthy and light, it's surprising Korean food isn't more popular or readily available in Edinburgh. This unassuming café-style restaurant is doing its bit to change that though. With just a few tables, O'Kitchen is more aimed at those looking for a reputable takeaway or quick pit-stop. Of course, kimchi pops up all over the menu; kimchi dumpling, kimchi pancake, kimchi stew and kimchi on the side, along with a selection of rice, noodle and soup dishes. The beef bulgogi is well-marinated and some tasty flavours come through, though it's a bit tough and the rice with onion and pepper needs more seasoning. However the bokkeum champpong (seafood noodle stir fry) is piled with mussels, prawns, squid and more, and the tangy sauce clinging to the noodles gives it a real punch. Have a can of whatever bright, syrupy, imported soft drink they’ve got in the fridge to wash it all down.
