Home by Maison Bleue
Social Bite and Maison Bleue’s social mission collaboration delivering appealing Auld Alliance fusion in a stylish West End setting.
Home is a restaurant on a mission. The social enterprise collaboration linking Maison Bleue and Social Bite happily distributes its profits to charitable causes and offers diners an opportunity to pay forward meals for the homeless. A stylish West End room of exposed brick and blond wood, comfy banquettes and twinkling lights, reveals an appealing Auld Alliance à la carte that journeys south into North Africa for inspiration. Rich beef cheeks à la bordelaise and duck leg confit with cassoulet appear alongside red deer carpaccio, haggis balls with whisky jus and a surprisingly spicy calamari. Popular tagines pair chicken with ras el hanout spices or slow-cooked lamb shank with chickpeas and couscous, alongside a mammoth Mechoui Bedouin feast to sustain the hungry hordes. A friendly front of house sets just the right tone, serving up good-value fixed-price lunchtime offers, with guest appearances from the city’s star chefs for sell-out evening fundraisers. Opening their doors on Monday afternoons to feed the homeless community, this is a big-hearted crowd-pleasing venue forging a path that hopefully more will follow.
