Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2018/19 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £7.95 (+p&p).

Feeling adventurous? Why not try a most excellent wine quest at Good Brothers. Journey through the latest natural wine producers and vineyards, taking in orange wines (made from extra skin contact with unusual grapes like procanico and malvino) through to reds with attention-grabbing names like Unravelled Pinot Noir. Let enthusiastic barman Oli guide you with a splash of this or that, or pick at random – that will be delicious too. Accompany your wine with small plates such as mussels in squid ink chowder, oyster mushroom risotto or Mellis’s cheese, from a frequently changing menu. The decor is white and green and feels modern and a little serious, which seems fitting as owners Rory and Graeme Sutherland are obviously serious about their wine. A great destination for the curious oenophile (look it up, people).

We are two brothers, brought up locally, with over 20 years of passion and experience in the hospitality and wine industry. We love great food and interesting wines and staunchly believe in sourcing as much as we can locally. With wine, we have a passion for minimal intervention and sustainable practices with around half our list being classified as either Organic, Biodynamic or Natural.

What are these voodoo wines I hear you cry! They are wines that are crafted without additives, without the use of pesticides or man-made fertilizers or without the addition of stabilising agents. In short: wine as nature intended.

We have taken over a much-loved venue on the corner of Dean Street and Raeburn Place in Stockbridge and aim to create Edinburgh’s finest wine bar with food. A relaxed, comfortable venue that makes you want to come back every day. Just think Cheers with us instead of Ted Danson.
