Traditional Borders village pub and beer garden.
This review is taken from the current (2016) edition.
With a Front Bar ‘basically untouched since its last minor refurb in 1906’, a Side Bar (newer, but still not too smart to mind if you bring along your faithful hound), a log fire, a restaurant, beer garden and a own micobrewery just a mile away at Lanton Mill, the Ancrum Cross Keys ticks a lot of Good Pub boxes. Picturesquely perched on the banks of the Ale Water and with views across the village green, the pub's restaurant does a concise menu of half a dozen or so starters and mains, plus sharing platters of baked camembert, chicken goujons or seafood. Borders rabbit comes topped with puff pastry with mushrooms and bacon, there are ribeye steaks with the usual sauces, roast ribs and a kids’ menu.
