Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2017 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

For those who are well and truly fed up of ubiquitous big business coffee shop chains, a few hours spent in For Fika Sake will most definitely initiate a renewal of faith. Taking inspiration from the Swedish tradition of combining culinary and community interests, this is an independent café in the truest sense of the word with the local people sat at its heart. The menu is brief yet thoughtful. The selection of sandwiches includes the popular Fika Reuben, a rich combination of pastrami and mustard cream cheese, and the GLT – goat’s cheese, lettuce and tomato jam – along with a few sweet treats displayed on the counter to tempt you afterwards. The relaxed and versatile space is also a well-used events venue, having played host to gigs, language classes, pottery workshops and a film festival among much else.

Glasgow Life Drawing and Sketching

This group is for anyone who likes to draw. Unlike other artists like musicians, actors or dancers… people who like to create drawings often do so alone. Once finished they tend to hide their sketch pad somewhere and few people get the pleasure of seeing their work. There's nothing wrong with that but it could also be a…
