This review is taken from the 2015 edition.

Having almost literally risen from the flames, Steak and Cherry is back after a fire in its kitchen four years ago devastated the venue – and a few of the neighbours’ flats as well. Where before it was a fairly secrective spot, it’s now more visible in its new home across the street and on ground level, with large glass doors leading to a long and smartly attired dining area mixing tables and booths. The American-inspired menu is large, covering nachos, wings, grills, decent burgers, dogs, pizzas, pastas and US-style desserts and shakes, while there are plenty of spirits and a few bottled beers on offer from the small bar. The food is decent enough while not setting the world alight (ahem), but what really sells this place is the opening hours – lasting until a staggering 5am every day, catching all manner of post-clubbers, bar workers and early risers out for a bite to eat.

  • High point: Past midnight bites
  • Low point: Things could get messy at 4am
