Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

The West End sister of WEST on the Green is a contemporary affair of exposed stone and oversized lampshades. With floor to ceiling windows and original framed pictures it's a comfy place to while away the hours supping different varieties of WEST beer. Dry pilsner Feierabend is the perfect clocking-off beer and draught is served by the third, half, pint, litre or jug, depending on your thirst. If you fancy sharing food, the generous platters allow you try a selection of German specialities. On the main menu the quality of the meat is impressive – the ham hough terrine is dense, not fatty, and paired with a chunky homemade piccalilli. The tender slow-roasted ox cheeks are tinged pink in the middle and the accompanying pepper and honey sauce balances smoky with sweet. Visit on Sunday to enjoy a roast of beef, lamb or chicken – you can even bring the dug.
