This review is taken from the current (2016) edition.
The idea behind Social Bite is a great one, and they proudly display it on the walls of both their Glasgow sites: all profits go towards good causes, and one in four employees are from the homeless community. This would probably be enough to attract many a lunchtime office worker, but founders Josh and Alice have gone beyond mere good intentions and built a chain with some perfectly agreeable food to allow them to compete with the Prets and the Eats of this world. Two soups (one healthy, one hearty – perhaps beetroot and cream cheese) sit alongside the usual office-worker-esque sandwich/wrap/salad affairs. Focaccias (mozzarella, tomato and pesto) and bacon bagels can be toasted, while there’s a nicely spicy chickpea stew and an aromatic Hong Kong pork dish for those who want more substantial meals. Staff clearly buy-in to the (expanding) chain’s greater purpose because their pride and affability strike you as you walk in.
