Simple family-run bar restaurant in the village of Minishant with a neat interior and a decent range of traditional and modern pub dishes.
A small family-run bar restaurant in the village of Minishant, just a few minutes south of Ayr on the road to Girvan, the Minishant Inn is sited in a converted house on the main road. The front patio is filled with al fresco seating – under a canopy if the weather’s unpleasant – while the interior was renovated in 2012 with bright, open booth seats. There’s also a fire for winter nights, adding a sense of snug intimacy to this most homely of venues. Serving lunches and dinners, the Beattie family’s menu offers an extensive range of traditional and modern pub dishes, drawing influence from foreign styles (the teriyaki seabass or a distinctive pairing of Cajun spiced chicken and Thai curry sauce) and the more classic (signature steak and fish pies, and a seafood grill). The set lunch and dinner menus are reasonable, and there’s also a cocktail list.
