Kelly Bronze Scotland's farm in Stewarton is home to the company's award-winning bronze turkey breed. With access to over 50 acres, the well-known and popular 'Bred to be Wild' Kelly Bronze birds roam freely in pastures and woodlands and shelter safely at night in open-sided pole barns. The company – the only Scottish turkey producer with their own breeding stock and blood lines – hatch and rear all their turkeys in the Ayrshire countryside. The hardy and slow-growing Kelly Bronze breed is reared for the Christmas market and supplied to butchers and customers throughout Scotland. The birds are dry plucked without the use of water and hang for two weeks to develop a full flavour.
