Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

Giving foodies a real reason to venture to Easter Road, Polentoni is a charming Italian deli with a different brunch offering. Skillets of rich house passata, roasted peppers and fennel sausage come topped with baked eggs alongside toasted sourdough for dipping. Or there are hearty plates piled high with polenta chips, crispy Parma ham, perfect runny-yolked poachers and gently roasted asparagus. A selection of mini pizzas, calzones and ciabattas (baked on the premises overnight) overflow with charcuterie and mozzarella and appeal to those looking for lunch on the move. Alternatively, an afternoon crowd lucky enough to get a table might tuck into a bowls of homemade gnocchi and fresh egg tagliatelle. It's a laid-back coffee-drinking, people-watching vibe but patrons can BYOB with no corkage, should they wish.
