Fun, fast Royal Mile grillhouse proving popular with tourists and locals alike thanks to big, bold burgers, with beef sourced from Fife’s Buffalo Farm.

Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2018 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £7.95 (+p&p).

Right on the Royal Mile, Burgers and Beers is perfectly placed to pull in the tourists, plus local beef-fanciers and lads loading up on calories and carbs before beers. Do not underestimate the pull of the patty – no reservation on a weekend night may mean a wait with a beer at the bar, but it’s a fast turnover so you’ll be tucking into a big yellow taxi or dirty south soon enough. You could chomp on chicken wings, a chilli hotdog, ribs or steak, but really it’s all about the burgers, for which Fife’s Buffalo Farm supplies the beef. Go for the big fat Greek or the rocky balboa, or perhaps the frying Scotsman – its haggis fritter and onion rings do our healthy nation proud. You can build your own burger or swap your beef for chicken or veggie versions, while sides like chilli cheese balls (with a kick) or monkey fingers are probably surplus to requirements. Dessert will be a challenge but New York cheesecake or apple toffee pie will surely satisfy sweet longings.
