Owned by drinks giant Diageo, Teaninich (pronounced chee-an-in-ick) almost exclusively produces malt for blending, including for use in Johnnie Walker Red Label. The only Teaninich malt available is a 10-year-old in the increasingly rare Flora and Fauna Diageo range. The distillery has six stills, and a mash filter - unique in Scottish whisky production, where other distilleries have mash tuns. In April 2013 Diageo announced a major expansion of the distillery to almost double its capacity, as well as the building of a £50 million 16-still distillery next door, which will have its own name and identity.
