The Pier Cafe and Craft Shop
A popular family cafe with views over Little Loch Shin and a craft shop attached, The Pier majors on lunches and its home-baking, before turning into a bistro on Friday and Saturday nights. An impressive amount is made on site - almost everything except the bread, in fact, including ice cream, hummus, coleslaw, naan bread and Orkney Fudge cheesecake. Best-sellers include the haggis and cheddar panini and ploughman's, a heaving plate of Highland Fine Cheeses, ham, chutney, salad and bread. On the evening menu might be Black Isle lamb shank, pan-fried hake with pureed cauliflower, or their lunch/dinner crossover cheese burger with hand-cut chips, an instant hit when they re-opened after a big refurb in spring 2014. A wide range of local producers are used, from nearby butchers to Inverness Coffee Roasting Co. and Black Isle Brewery (yes, they're licenced too).
