West Coast Delicatessen
Opened in April 2013, the family behind the West Coast Deli took time before opening to travel the country tasting and testing. The result is a fine selection of Scottish produce, much of it from the Highlands, supplemented by continental charcuterie and antipasti, and a global wine selection. They do a roaring lunch trade in freshly made up rolls, stuffed with their deli stock - Great Glen Game venison salami, for example, and seasonal salad - as well as home-made quiches, sausage rolls, Scotch eggs and cakes. Local businesses aren't left out with lunch deliveries on offer (also made to individuals if you ask nicely, and in advance). Keen to satisfy local demand as well as tourists, staff members have travel-influenced baking specialities: 'pakora Fridays' during the winter months, or baklava in memory of Cypriot holidays. Favourite Scottish suppliers include Mr C's Hand-Crafted Pies, Ullapool Smokehouse's salmon and cheese, Cocoa Mountain chocolates and a range of cheese-makers, including St Andrews Farmhouse Cheese, Errington's and Connage Highland Dairy, with regular deliveries of Harry Gow's bread to eat it on.
