Ormiston Grows is a social enterprise working to get people more involved with the food they eat - sourcing it, growing it, cooking it, and its healthiness. This is done through a number of projects, as well as the Sundial Cafe and community shop. The shop is staffed by volunteers, and everything it sells is local, organic or Fairtrade. This includes fruit and veg, bread and baking, cheese and milk, and groceries - preserves, snacks and dried goods. As many as possible of the vegetables and herbs in the shop and cafe come from the The Station Garden, their community growing site on the old Ormiston railway station, where people can come and help out, and learn gardening skills. A pop-up cafe visits the garden, shop, cafe and other places and provides cooking workshops and community cooking activites, and the group also run more formal training courses, including 'kitchen canny' waste reduction, and REHIS food hygiene and health qualifications.
