Bowmore Distillery has stood on the shores of Loch Indaal, a sea loch that opens out into the Atlantic Ocean, since 1779. It is the oldest legal distillery on the island, and has the oldest maturation warehouse in Scotland. No. 1 Vaults are also the only one below sea level. There are four core whiskies: Bowmore Legend, and a 12, 15 and 18 year old. Limited editions are made up by Maltmen's Selection; 1981; 1982; 1985. Specialist releases are on offer from time to time, including non-chill-filtered whiskies to small batch releases.
