Mey Selections is the brand name of North Highlands Products Ltd, the company formed by Caithness farmers to select and source supplies of the highest quality farm, fish and food products from the north Highlands. In 2005 Prince Charles, the Duke of Rothesay, launched the North Highland Initiative, which aims to promote the economic development of the North Highlands of Scotland. One of the aims of the initiative is to foster closer connections between farmers, fine food producers, and consumers. Mey Selections products or ingredients are sourced, wherever possible, from within a 100 mile radius of the Castle of Mey. Mey Selections work with distributors across the UK from the North Highlands to London to distribute their beef, lamb, fish and seafood for the hotel, catering and foodservice industry. HRH Prince Charles personally selected their blended malt Scotch whisky Barrogill. All Mey Selections beef is guaranteed to be born and reared within 100 miles of the Castle of Mey, and lamb is reared on family farms and crofts in the North Highlands. Other products include Reid’s Handmade Oatcakes, shortbread made by Stewart McConnach of Caithness Biscuits, and Mey Selections Heather Honey, from beehives in the North Highlands.
