MareScot, based in Broadford Isle of Skye, has been exporting live shellfish to Europe since 2000. The company has fifty regular creel boats landing live produce on a daily basis to Skye and their two further sites, based in the Outer Isles; one in the Isle of Harris and the other in the Isle of North Uist. Each evening the packing team the sorts and boxes the langoustine ready for transportation by refrigerated lorry to various airports. It is then received in Spain and throughout Europe the following day. Each week they send a Vivier lorry from Skye to Spain with an extensive range of live shellfish including langoustine, brown crab, velvet crab, lobster, crawfish, razorfish, palourdes, cockles and scallops.
