In 2009, the launch of Genius Foods introduced a gluten-free bread that had coeliacs writing to founder Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne to express their gratitude. It was quickly stocked by all the major supermarkets, and since 2010 has been available on prescription. In 2011, Waitrose launched a range of gluten-free sandwiches using the bread, and the product hit the USa and Canada in partnership with Glutino.The product range has expanded to include frozen food and sweet baking. The purchase of two extra bakeries in 2013 increased the Genius staff from 26 to over 350.
