Since 1962, when George and Elizabeth Ross bought their first bakery in Insch, the JG Ross name has come to dominate High Street bakeries in the North East. Delicious baked goods, some traditional, some more innovative, are freshly supplied and quickly snapped up by a loyal customer base. Some branches offer takeaway lunches, and others have a sit-down coffee shop. In Aberdeenshire, you can't visit a bakery without coming away with a bag of butteries (JG Ross handmake over 60,000 per week), and at least a couple of fancy pieces – try the sponge snowballs and the girdle scones too.
