Joseph Robertson (Aberdeen) Ltd
Not open to the public.
Founded in 1892 by Joseph Robertson, the company is now into its fourth generation of family ownership, and manufactures value-added seafood products from a 35,000 sq.ft. factory in Aberdeen. Located within the city boundaries of Aberdeen, Joseph Robertson is now the largest value-added seafood company in the city, and probably the largest independent in Scotland. After a devastating fire in 2005, a new £8.4m factory was rebuilt and opened in 2007, and is one of the most modern Seafish manufacturing sites in the UK. Joseph Robertson own the Swankies Scottish Fish brand. Line-caught haddock and cod form the vast majority of the raw material fished from the seas off Iceland and Norway. The company is built on the frozen foodservice sector, offering breadcrumb coated fish in wide varieties from tempura batter, to flavoured breadcrumbs such a korma and Mexican. Fishcakes - flour dusted, standard crumb, speciality crumb and hand-made or hand finished - also come in a huge range of varieties.
