Luisa Gonzales set up this small apiary in 2012 after learning the struggle beekeepers have in keeping their bees and trade alive. Golden Age Honey aims to produce honey in a very natural way with hives located in several spots along the Solway Coast and in Dumfries and Galloway, South Lanarkshire and the Borders. Their Generation Bee project seeks to encourage a new generation of young, serious beekeepers who are not put off by the challenges of their trade by providing training and affordable hives. The three types of honey produced are ‘Premier Cru’ from spring-time tree pollen, ‘Blossom’ from meadow flowers during the summer months and 'Heather', which carries the distinct smoky flavour of Scottish heathers. Enquiries can be made by email or telephone.
