In 2008, fourteen years since moving from Tanzania to Edinburgh, Maggie Mazoleka started making an authentic East African Pili Pili sauce in her spare time. This concoction, based on Scotch bonnet chilies, became such a hit among friends that Maggie was soon supplying it to charity fundraising events and private parties. This developed into the launch of 'MaRobert's Sauces' available in three strengths: the original 'hot' and subsequent 'mild' and (for non-chili eaters) 'fruity' flavours. They contain no artificial ingredients and, what's more, a percentage of sales profits are donated to Maggie's charity 'SASHITA', which was set up to support poverty alleviation in Tanzania. MaRobert’s stall is a regular feature across Edinburgh's market-scene and mail order is also available through their website.
