Charlotte Benvie (exoticised to Carlotta to avoid clashing with other ‘Charlotte’s Chocolates’ in existence) trained with Master Chocolatier Ruth Hinks, and now makes hand-crafted chocolates and cake-pops from her home chocolate kitchen. These include Great Taste awarded cocoa-dusted bon bons, in plain dark chocolate, strawberry or Kilhoman whisky. Truffles are her most popular line, hand-scooped, rolled and decorated, and cake pops take chocolate cake (gluten-free available) and buttercream, and smother it in more chocolate and embellishments. Charlotte Benvie founded Carlotta's Chocolates after participating in a series of courses with Master Chocolatier Ruth Hinks of Cocoa Black. Her dark chocolate bon bons were the first of her lines to receive a Great Taste Award in 2013 and with their distinct flavour it is clear to see why. Other bon bon varieties are joined by truffles and bars. She runs half-day cakepop making courses and full-day chocolate making courses from her rural kitchen.
