Gill & Stan Lyth’s pretty chocolates are made from sustainable, Fair Trade chocolate and cocoa, and are all hand-made and decorated. Launched in 2012 as Hello Chocolate, the company rebranded as Stuart & Swan in 2015. Their stockist list is impressive, and includes Loch Leven’s Larder, Balgove Larder, a place on The Balmoral’s afternoon tea and a bespoke range for Gleneagles. Local ingredients come into play in the likes of strawberry daiquiri, Colonsay hazelnut and honey chocolates, and the taster selection corners some more specialist niches – organic cocoa nibs, single origin chocolates and amber cocoa powder. The full range includes bars, filled chocolates and truffles, chocolate lollies and hot chocolate, with regular elegant touches – a calla lily-shaped ‘lollichoc’, ‘notes on a Honduran coffee’ flavour. Masterclasses and chocolate ‘experiences’ are another string to their bow: the latter includes chocolate and wine or whisky tastings.
