St Andrews Brewing Company
Opened in November 2013, St Andrew's first bar and restaurant to have brewing equipment on-site is, as you'd expect, linked to the brewery of the same name. Run by brewery owner Bob Phaff and St Andrews restaurateur Tim Butler, the American-style brewpub serves an impressive (and keenly priced) line-up of craft ales - half of which are Phaff’s range, and some of those you'll be able to see in production at the show brewery on the premises. The other half include the likes of Alechemy, Redwillow and The Kernel, as well as the best of the US and Scandinavia. All beams, bare stonework, soft wooden lines and ever-changing blackboards, it also offers interesting and unusual gins and whiskies and doesn’t scrimp on the wine list. The food is more than just a way to soak all this up: keeping to the informal vibe of the place there's a concise tapas list, serving the likes of chorizo baked in Thistly Cross cider, slow-cooked leeks, a range of crostini and everyone's favourites, ham croquettes.
