Coffee pod machines are a serious lifestyle accessory these days, as the arrival of Nespresso's new Boutique in glamorous Multrees Walk confirms. The sixth such outlet in the UK, and part of a growing global span of branded shops, the stylish format conceived by French architect Francis Krempp sells a dozen or so branded Nespresso coffee machines, a range of upmarket accessories and coffee from their Grand Cru range of 21 different styles – packaged in the colourful foil of the bespoke pod system used by the machines. As well as a sales outlet, however, it's just as much a drop-in destination for current and prospective customers, with a tasting bar, advice area and a zone for Nespresso Club members, not to mention a corner for recycling your used aluminium pods. It feels a bit like an Apple Store for coffee, and you won't find too many people at Nespresso dismissing the comparison.
