The UK's most northerly winery makes real fruit wines and liqueurs, sold throughout Scotland, and from both their on-site and online shops. Varieties include sloe, blackcurrant, blaeberry, elderberry, gorse and potato, among others, and many are matured in Arran whisky casks. The shop also sells good-quality local gifts and crafts, and ice cream in summer. The wines and liqueurs are made using as many Orkney-grown ingredients as possible, and without sulphites or preservatives – the higher than usual alcohol levels do the preserving. The wines are cleared using bentonite, a natural clay, rather than gelatine, making them suitable for vegetarians. The shop's location, though remote, is right next to the famous Italian Chapel, making it a good bet for a rainy-day excursion.
