Brazilian theme bar packing in the students with party vibes and cocktail deals.

Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2018 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £7.95 (+p&p).

Opposite Bristo Square, Boteco de Brasil is in the heart of student territory so as you’d expect, the emphasis is on cheap and cheerful drinks and dining. The Brazilian and footballing themes loom large, with spray painted street art murals featuring Christ the Redeemer, framed shirts of some of Brazil’s finest footballing names on the walls and live football showing on the television – if football’s not your thing, then perhaps check out the salsa dance classes downstairs. There are a host of special offers and events, with tapas nights, two for one food and drink deals and DJ nights all with regular weekly slots. The food is largely made up of grilled or fried meats, stews or burgers, and the execution can be a little hit-and-miss. Black bean, pork and sausage stew (feijoada) is hearty and comforting, but the burger is disappointingly dry and tough. However, with cheery staff and a range of strong, well-made cocktails to sample you’ll likely forgive any food crimes in the pursuit of a good night out.
