India on the Green
This award-winning restaurant was until recently known as The Green Inn. With awards including four AA stars for hospitality and three AA Rosettes for culinary excellence it is known for its fusion of French, Indian and Thai food. They pride themselves on using local suppliers not just for food but all other necessities such as crockery and laundry too. Grilled langoustine with lime and tandoori spices or monkfish baked in charcoal with olive oil and coriander as a starter are very popular. Other highlights for main courses include green burnt lamb with spinach and chili, or the Dulhaniya special made with local venison, ginger, herbs and garlic. The menu distinguishes itself with a page of 'unique dishes', including a traditional Farsi wedding dish and Shorisha king prawn rose, 'cooked to the chef's mood' - not to be confused with prawn marie rose. On this page, alongside the usual chicken, lamb and prawn curry options, keep an eye out for duck, venison and crocodile steak. Takeaway is also offered.
