The Alonzi family have been feeding the citizens of Stockbridge for nearly half-a-century, stretching back to their first venture - the Park Cafe - in the sixties. While they can no longer call on long-time sister establishment San Marco to supplement the fried goods with Anglo-Italian favourites - the kitchens next door have been replaced by the Kitchin next door - this keenly-priced chippy still offers an impressive sixty pizza and pasta variations. It’s the fish and chips however, that best explain Franco’s enduring appeal. Fresh, thickly cut haddock fillets cooked to order, even on a busy Saturday night, batter that comes laced with a hint of breadcrumb for extra crunch and above-average chips, golden, firm and fluffy, all make for a local fryer worth frequenting.
