Moor of Rannoch Hotel
Scott Meikle and Stephanie Graham took on Moor of Rannoch in May 2013, and have been garnering glowing reviews for the hotel's restaurant ever since. Open to non-residents as well as guests (advance booking essential), they actively seek out local suppliers. This currently includes MacDonald Brothers butchers in Pitlochry, Rannoch Smokery's meats and game, and eggs 'from Ewan’s hens down the road'. The short menu is simple - smoked venison, beetroot and toasted hazelnut salad, or beef pie using Orkney Brewery's Dark Island beer. As much as possible is home-made, including lemon curd, tattie scones and custard, and Graham has been known to type recipes out for particularly satisfied diners. A lovely touch, for residents only, is the complimentary Scottish cheeseboard, served each night at 9pm.
