Named after the impressive gorge-lined waterfall to the north of the town, this popular restaurant is one of a huddle of 18th-century cottages on picturesque Comrie's main thoroughfare. Spit into two rooms, the interior is compact and cosy with a classy feel imbued by rich reds, old mismatched furniture and soft lights. It's well suited to nights when the weather draws in and the stone walls flicker with light from the open fire – although summer days can be enjoyed al fresco in the garden. Owners Katy and Brian Healy have been keeping the locals and the area's many visitors well fed (and imbibed) and warmly welcomed since 2002, providing a blend of Mediterranean and Scottish food, from light lunchtime offerings such as mackerel fillet or open club sandwich to more substantial lunches such as haggis or fish and chips. The evening menu, set priced at around £20 for two courses, ranges from duck breast and sea bream to a deliriously tender feather blade of beef, while a substantial specials board offers enticing divergence. Children are treated as well as the adults, with a thoughtful and varied menu for under 10s.
